CDG Sets Conference for Dec. 1-3 in San Diego

The Contemporary Design Group, a buying and performance group for independent contemporary furniture retailers, is returning to his hometown of San Diego for its 2017 annual conference, which will take place Dec. 1-3.
The weekend event will be held at the Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa.
The conference is returning to San Diego, where CDG is based, after a three-year absence. However, this year’s host hotel is not in San Diego’s downtown Gaslight District, where numerous conferences had been held, said CDG Executive Director Alicia Mendez.
“Attendees can expect a relaxed learning atmosphere with a lot of unique surprises. We’ve moved out of the downtown area to a new location on Mission Bay and steps from the Pacific Ocean,” she said.
Mendez said the group still plans to change host cities annually.
“We want to keep the event as fresh as possible,” said Mendez. Exploring new locations (as the group has done in recent years) like Tampa, Scottsdale, and Miami have helped generate excitement and new opportunities, she added.
This year’s event begins with a welcome reception on Dec. 1 and concludes on the morning of Dec. 3 with a “speed networking” session. The conference also will feature the presentation of the 4th annual Edward Haimsohn Design Award.
