FastFact: Third Quarter Emerges as Largest Furniture Sales Period

The third quarter has emerged as the biggest quarter for home furnishings sales, surpassing the fourth quarter consistently since 2007, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
The holiday-driven fourth quarter still is a critical period, but has lost a bit of its luster in recent years, the data indicates.
In several recent years, home furnishings sales in the first quarter also have exceeded the fourth quarter, and in 2012, the first quarter was the busiest of the year.
