Libby Langdon to Headline ASFD Scholarship Fundraiser

Designer Libby Langdon will headline a May 17 fundraiser that will benefit the scholarship fund of the American Society of Furniture Designers.

The special design event, “Evening with Libby Langdon,” will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. at the String & Splinter Club in High Point, N.C.

The creative force behind the New York City based interior design firm, Libby Interiors, Inc., Langdon is a well-known interior designer, author, and makeover television personality. One of the fastest-growing home furnishings brands in the business, the designer has launched several successful collections of licensed products for a variety of home furnishings companies, including Braxton Culler, Crystorama, Bradburn Gallery, and most recently, NorthCape.

ASFD Executive Director John Conrad said Langdon will offer insights into the various components of her company, her design process and experiences working with manufacturers on her licensed collections, as well as how she collaborates with companies in the branding and promotion of her products.

“Besides being a smart and exceptionally talented hometown girl, Libby Langdon is known as a real mover and shaker in our industry,” Conrad said, noting that Langdon grew up in High Point. “She has also been an ardent supporter of good design and design education and this event promises to be a very entertaining presentation, appropriately set to coincide with Celebrate the Old North State week. We are delighted that Libby will be coming home to give us the opportunity to learn more about how she has achieved so much, so quickly.”

For Langdon, the event is very much a homecoming.

“I’m really looking forward to coming back to High Point for this special evening,” she said. “My Dad was in textiles, and my Mom was in design, so the home furnishings industry has been in my blood from the beginning. I’m thrilled to be a part of the furniture business and I look forward to sharing my experiences from my start in interior design, my move into product design and what I want to make happen next.”

The cost per ticket is $25 per person which includes wine, beer and hors d'oeuvres. To learn more and order tickets online, visit: http://bit.ly/ASFDLibbyLangdon.
