FastFact: Medical Costs Move in Opposite Direction of Furniture

Paced by skyrocketing medical costs, prices in the services sector have gone the opposite direction as furniture and other durable goods since the Great Recession ended, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Hospital care, for example, shot up 30.6% between 2010 and 2016, while physician services, dental services and prescription drugs have gone up between 16.5% and 22.8% during that time.
