Unlike furniture, home furnishings and most other durable goods, new car prices have risen steadily in recent years, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The data shows that new car and truck prices are up 6.8% since 2010, even though gasoline prices have tumbled 23.4% during that time.
According to BLS, prices for furniture, appliances and electronics have declined steadily since 2012.
