Leflein Elected President of IHFRA

Tommy Leflein has been elected the 79th president of the International Home Furnishings Representatives Assn. He was installed earlier this month at IHFRA’s annual board of directors meeting in High Point.

Leflein’s furniture industry career began in 1974 while working in his family’s furniture store in New Jersey, Thomas Furniture Co. In 1976, he became a sales representative for Thomasville Furniture in the New York and New Jersey territory.

He also served as a sales representative for Pennsylvania House from 1983-1993, and represented Rowe Furniture from 1993-2003. He also has worked for Benchcraft/Berkline, Lifestyle California, and the Nico Home division of Nourison as vice president of sales.

A long-time member of IHFRA, Leflein has also served in executive positions with the Tri-State Chapter and Greater Metropolitan Furnishings Assn. He was awarded the Charles B. Costar "Dean of IHFRA" award, as well as the Howard Liveright Memorial Award, the highest honor for outstanding contributions to the furniture industry presented to him by the GMFA.

He also is an active member of The Golden Slipper Club and Charity of Philadelphia, and serves on the City of Hope executive board for the Northeast.

Other new IHFRA officers include Geoff Weed, Midwest Furniture Club, chairman of the board; Al David, Home Furnishings Association of Michigan, first vice president; Jon Schulman, Home Furnishings Representatives Guild of Southern California, second vice president; and John Pinion IV, at-large member, secretary/treasurer. Harrison Rose of the Midwest Furniture Club will head IHFRA’s Membership Committee.
