Sexton Furniture to Unveil First Products for Retail Channel

Upholstery producer Sexton Furniture Mfg., which has focused on the contract, hospitality and OEM markets throughout its nearly 30-year history, will exhibit its first products for the furniture retail channel at next week’s High Point Premarket.

Company officials said the initial offering will consist of nine stationary fabric seating groups with correlating recliners – all of which will be produced at Sexton’s factory in Bean Station, Tenn.

Dwight Hardison, who recently was named vice president of sales and marketing, said the retail line will retain the same high-quality components as the contract, hospitality and OEM products, and are designed to be easy for retailers to sell and deliver quickly.

The product launch comes on the heels of Sexton Furniture owner Jerry Sexton’s purchase of upholstery producer Bushline Furniture earlier this year. Bushline’s factory in New Tazewell, Tenn., will continue to produce the Bushline brand, but will share showroom space with Sexton Furniture in space 154 at Center Point on Manning.

Hardison said former Bushline Furniture owner Hollis Bush will remain with the company as a consultant.

Before joining Sexton Furniture and Bushline, Hardison was vice president of marketing at leather upholstery resource Simon Li from 2012-16. Earlier, he held a variety of sales, marketing and merchandising posts at Lane, Benchcraft, Stratford and Berkline.

Premarket takes place Monday, March 13 and Tuesday, March 14.
