March 2,
2017 by Larry Thomas in Industry, Retail Technology, Special Events
Lectra, a supplier of integrated technology solutions for industries using fabrics, leather, technical textiles and composite materials, will present a seminar, “Make it Fast, Make it Customized” on March 9 at the Highland Avenue Restaurant in Hickory, N.C.
The event begins at 6 p.m. and will be led by Lectra solutions expert Chris Turley and Chris Young, the company’s North American sales director. They will share how integrated technologies can create a more progressive manufacturing environment to support the growing trend toward customization in the furniture industry.
“We know Millennials are changing how we are going to do business in the future but Industry 4.0 or the ‘smart factory’ is reinventing how we manage manufacturing,” said Young.
During the event, Young will highlight four industry mega-trends and how they are causing manufacturing shifts both in the U.S. and abroad. He will also share a 2016 independent study of furniture manufacturing challenges in the U.S., China, and Eastern/Western Europe and how businesses anticipate meeting these challenges in 2017 and beyond.
On the technology front, Turley will introduce how 3D virtual prototyping, upholstery design, parametric pattern making and made-to-measure customization can streamline furniture manufacturing from design to cutting and allow manufacturers to offer more options to their customers.
