FastFact: Q3 Housing Starts Don’t Keep Pace with Existing Home Sales

Despite strong existing home sales, housing starts grew at a very sluggish pace in the third quarter of last year, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
The report showed single-family housing starts were up just 1.9% in the quarter, and multi-family starts fared even worse, falling 7.7%. The multi-family decline in the third quarter followed a 9.5% drop in the second quarter.
