Bedding Vet Rehwinkel Gets Sales, Marketing Post at Eclipse

As part of an effort to assist licensees expand retail relationships, Mattress Development Co., the licensor and manufacturer of the Eclipse International and Eastman House mattress lines, has named 43-year industry veteran Thomas Rehwinkel vice president of sales and marketing.

Rehwinkel has held sales and executive posts with several leading mattress manufacturers including Simmons, Spring Air and Tempur-Pedic. During his five years with Tempur-Pedic, Rehwinkel oversaw the company’s sales activity on the East Coast.

Earlier, he was executive vice president for bedding retailer Sleepy’s.

In his new position, Rehwinkel reports to Stuart Carlitz, CEO of Eclipse International and Eastman House.

“As our brands grow, we needed someone with the proven track record Tom brings to help us work with our licensees and their current and future retail partners to better sell and merchandise our products. He has a wealth of experience with leading brands like Simmons, Tempur-Pedic and Sleepy’s that can be a real asset to all our customers. We are excited to have him on our team” Carlitz said.

Based in North Brunswick, N.J., Eclipse International has been making mattresses since 1905. Eastman House was founded in 1866 and is the oldest, continuous mattress manufacturer in the United States.

Eclipse has 61 licensees -- 17 in the U.S., two in Canada and 42 overseas servicing 65 countries or provinces.
