FastFact: Jobless Rate Low, but Consumer Confidence Stagnant in Q3

Unemployment remained low, but stagnant consumer confidence levels may help explain sluggish home furnishings sales in the third quarter.
Data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics showed that the unemployment rate reached pre-recession levels, but the Conference Board's Consumer Confidence Index hovered around 100, which indicates neither extreme confidence nor a major lack of confidence.
