Witteveen Gets Top Merchandising Post at Bassett Mirror
February 13,
2017 by Larry Thomas in Executive Changes, Industry
Bassett Mirror Co. has named Jon Witteveen senior vice president and chief furniture merchant.
Witteveen joins the company from A.R.T Furniture, where he had worked since 2012, most recently as vice president of merchandising and development. Prior to that, he served as director of product development for both Bassett Furniture and Magnussen Home.
He has also worked with Samson International and retailer Furnitureland South.
In his new position, Jon will report to Ron Cepulo, senior executive vice president and chief marketing officer.
“We’re thrilled to have Jon on board with the rest of our talented team,” said Cepulo. “He will bring a fresh, millennial perspective to our product development process. With his keen eye for creativity and color and his deep knowledge of materials and sourcing, he is a natural fit for our fashion-forward approach to furniture design and merchandising.”
Witteveen spent four years working with Witteveen International, a furniture design firm owned by his father, Peter Witteveen. Now retired, Peter Witteveen is a well-known furniture designer who developed domestic and offshore sourcing programs for a variety of leading furniture producers, including Lane.
Witteveen replaces Keith Weisglass, vice president of furniture product development, who recently left the company to pursue other opportunities in the home furnishings industry.
