Generation X, a demographic group often overlooked by marketers, registered a dramatic increase in spending on home furnishings in 2015, according to data from the government’s Consumer Expenditure Survey.
The survey showed that GenXers age 35-44 averaged $672 annually in furniture spending, the most of any consumer group. Consumers age 45 to 54 – which includes a segment of GenX and some of the youngest Baby Boomers -- had the second highest total at $586.
