FastFact: More Bedrooms, Bathrooms Found in New Single-Family Homes

New single-family homes tend to have more bedrooms, bathrooms and outdoor living spaces, according to a recent report from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The report said more than 53% of the homes built in 2015 had four or more bedrooms – up from 38.2% in 2009. Three-bedroom homes, which once made up the majority of new home construction, fell from 52.6% of the total in 2009 to 40.7% in 2015.

In addition, the report said 41.1% of the single-family homes built in 2015 had three or more bathrooms, up from 23.6% in 2009.
