Hall of Fame Now Accepting 2017 Nominations

Nominations for the 2017 class for induction into the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame are now open.

All members of the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation are eligible to nominate and second a nomination.

Nominations must be submitted by Feb. 1, and new members will be inducted Oct. 15 during the High Point Market.

“As was demonstrated during the recent induction celebration, the Hall of Fame embraces and recognizes exceptional leaders across the entire industry and from around the world who have made notable contributions and put a mark on the industry,” said Michael Amini, president of the Foundation. “The Selection Committee is in search of those individuals who deserve the industry’s most prestigious honor, whatever their role may be – retail, case goods, upholstery, casual and outdoor, bedding, home accents, lighting, wall art, accessories, rugs, soft goods, product designers, sales representatives, and suppliers.”

To qualify for consideration, the individual must conduct business in the United States, have served in the industry for at least 15 years, and have created a legacy as a positive influence and champion of the industry.

For posthumous nominations, the individual must have been deceased for at least 12 months prior to the date of the nomination.

Amini said a seven-member Hall of Fame Selection Committee will carefully consider the nominees to determine who most exemplifies enduring excellence, superior accomplishments, innovation and creativity, and philanthropic generosity of their time, talents and resources.

The final selection is determined by a points-based system, with ballots cast individually and online by each selection committee member.  The ballots are received and verified by the foundation’s accounting firm, Sharrard McGee.

Nomination forms and lists of current members, previous nominees and inductees are available on the Foundation website at http://www.furniturehalloffame.com/. Members may also obtain printed copies of the documents by calling (336) 882-5900.

To submit a nomination, a re-nomination or a posthumous nomination, foundation members are required to complete the nomination form found on the website. A print or a 300-dpi digital photo of the candidate must be enclosed. All nominations must be seconded, in writing, by another foundation member.

The completed nomination package must be postmarked no later than Feb. 1 and sent to American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc., 202 Neal Place, High Point, N.C.  27262.
