Art Van Opens 11th Chicagoland Store; Gets New Franchisee in Indiana

Art Van Furniture has opened its newest retail store in Schaumburg, Ill., and will celebrate the event with grand opening festivities that begin Thursday.

The 80,000-square-foot store is the company’s 11th in the Chicago market, and includes a PureSleep mattress center, a clearance center, and the retailer’s luxury division, Scott Shuptrine Interiors.

"Schaumburg is a vibrant community that is ripe with opportunity, and we are excited to introduce this showroom to the local residents," said Art Van CEO Kim Yost. "At Art Van Furniture, our goal is to help create homes and spaces that bring families together. Our vast assortment of home furnishings, coupled with our service-oriented staff, ensures that we have the right home décor solutions for all Schaumburg shoppers — from young families with children to empty nesters."

The ribbon cutting ceremony at 6 p.m. Thursday will feature Yost, President Gary Van Elslander, Art Van PureSleep President David Van Elslander, Schaumburg Village President Al Larson and the Schaumburg Chamber of Commerce.

The grand opening celebration will continue throughout the weekend with free entertainment for the entire family, including live music, face painting, giveaways and refreshments, at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

In a related development, the retailer said its newest franchised location is set to open Dec. 12 in Bloomington, Ind., with new franchise partner Furniture First.

"This is an outstanding partnership opportunity, and we are thrilled to work with owners Jason and Eric Publow, who have a longstanding family history in the furniture industry," said Yost. "Our collective efforts offer Bloomington residents the same great service with an expanded selection of furniture offerings at a better value. We look forward to sustaining the 33-year history of the store, while establishing new Art Van Furniture traditions."

The business was established in 1983 by Jeff and Pat Long, parents of Jason and Eric Publow.

"For more than 30 years, two generations of our family have had the pleasure of providing the Bloomington community with comfortable, stylish and affordable furniture," said Jason Publow, owner of Furniture First. "Through our new partnership with industry-leading Art Van Furniture, we will be able to offer an elevated customer service experience with increased warehousing and delivery services, as well as an expanded offering of home furnishing collections to fit any personal décor style."

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Jan. 12.
