Global Goodness Award Deadline Set for Jan. 13

Las Vegas Market said entries for the sixth edition of its Global Goodness Awards, which recognize furniture, home décor and gift companies for environmentally-friendly, sustainable and socially responsible business practices, will be accepted through Friday, Jan. 13.

In 2017, Global Goodness honors will be bestowed upon one exhibitor in each of Las Vegas Market’s three major categories—furniture, home décor and gift—as well as one additional People’s Choice Award selected via social media.  Global Goodness winners will be recognized at the Winter Market, which takes place Jan. 22-26.

“Las Vegas Market values and respects the roles that furniture, gift and home décor firms play in making our world a better place to live and work,” said Dorothy Belshaw, president of Gift & Home Décor at International Market Centers. “Las Vegas Market celebrates and commends industry-leading corporate ‘good citizens’ for their exemplary socially-responsibility, sustainability and environmentally-friendly business practices.”

The Global Goodness Awards, which debuted at the Summer 2013 Market, are open to all Las Vegas Market exhibitors.  A panel of prominent industry sustainability and social responsibility experts will select exhibitors that best represent the tenants of Global Goodness. Judges confirmed to date are Colvin English of ByHand Consulting and Susan Inglis of the Sustainable Furnishings Council.

The essays submitted by the award recipients will be posted on the Las Vegas Market web site, www.lasvegasmarket.com, and each will receive special at-market recognition signage. The People’s Choice Award will be selected by popular vote from stories posted to the Las Vegas Market Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/lvmarket.)

Las Vegas Market tenants and exhibitors wishing to participate in the Global Goodness initiative are invited to submit 125-word essays that describe their personal journey, outlining the socially-responsible products that they offer, and detailing how these products and the sourcing process have had a positive impact on people and communities throughout the world.

Essays, which must include both high resolution photos and text, should be submitted to Esther Ossei-Anto at eanto@imcenters.com, Past award recipients are not eligible to apply.
