In celebration of the upcoming holidays, Bob’s Discount Furniture has donated $86,000 to food pantries and hunger-relief programs within its markets throughout the Northeast, mid-Atlantic and Midwest.
The retailer said an organization near each of the 76 Bob’s Discount Furniture stores, three distribution centers and seven future store locations will each receive a $1,000 donation.
“Channeling the spirit of giving, we are thrilled to support food pantries in our communities for the third year in a row,” said Bob Kaufman, president emeritus and co-founder of Bob’s Discount Furniture. “We understand that many people struggle to feed their families and we’re hoping these donations help stop hunger this holiday.”
Throughout the year, the Bob’s Discount Furniture Charitable Foundation supports dozens of children and youth services organizations. As the holidays approach, the retailer will spread its charitable arm to support those in need, providing necessary funds to local food pantries in the fight to end hunger.
“The Connecticut Food Bank can leverage this $1,000 donation into 2,000 meals," said Bernie Beaudreau, CEO of the Connecticut Food Bank. "The support from Bob's Discount Furniture will make a significant difference in helping us provide access to nutritious food to neighbors in need in our six-county service area. We're very grateful for their support again this year."
