Tony Smith Leaving Serta Simmons Bedding
November 14,
2016 by Larry Thomas in Executive Changes, Industry
Longtime bedding industry executive Tony Smith, president of sales at Serta Simmons Bedding, is leaving the company on Nov. 30.
The company said CEO Michael Traub will lead the sales organization while the company undertakes an executive search for Smith’s replacement.
Smith joined the company in 2010, and after a stint as president of Simmons Bedding Co., was named president of sales for SSB earlier this year when the sales forces of Serta and Simmons were combined.
Traub, formerly president of Serta, was named CEO following the retirement of Gary Fazio in late 2015.
Smith is a 32-year bedding industry veteran whose career has included leadership roles in both sales and executive management.
“We are grateful to Tony for his many contributions to our company and to the bedding industry as a whole. Under his leadership, SSB built a unified, world-class sales force representing our category-leading Serta and Simmons brands. Our customers and employees have high regard for Tony personally, and we wish him well in his next chapter,” said Traub.
Smith’s future plans were not announced.
