LaDiff Hosts Sale of Locally-Made, Hand-Crafted Furnishings

Richmond, Va., retailer LaDiff is hosting its second annual sale and exhibit of hand-crafted home furnishings made by local artisans.

Known as Made in RVA Take 2, the event runs Nov. 18 through Dec. 11. Products will be displayed throughout the retailer’s 50,000-square-foot store in downtown Richmond.

This year’s event is organized by Kyle Lucia, Johannah Willsey, and David Bohnhoff. Lucia, a traditionally trained blacksmith, and Willsey, a mosaic artist, co-own Phoenix Handcraft and established RVA Makers, whose goal is to foster community among those interested in Richmond’s handmade culture.

Together with Bohnhoff, a former boat-builder turned furniture craftsman, they have gathered 14 artists, including themselves, who will present their designs and work at the event. All items will be available for sale with pick up or delivery before Christmas.

Officials said LaDiff’s involvement in the international design community gives the store a great appreciation for the artistry and talent that exists in Richmond.

“Last year’s event encouraged my husband and business partner, Andy Thornton, to start designing and building again,” said LaDiff President Sarah Paxton. “We look forward to more inspiration from these creative local artists.”
