Pleasant Mattress Names Stype to Quality Control Post

West Coast mattress producer Pleasant Mattress has named Michael Stype as its new director of quality and compliance.
Stype who joined the company in 2011 as plant manager, will oversee quality assurance of incoming raw materials, output of new products and regulatory compliance in his new post.
Stype has worked in the bedding industry for 17 years, and started his career with Simmons Bedding Co. in Hawaii, and later relocated to Charlotte, N.C., where he earned his Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.
Stype later joined International Bedding Corp. in Virginia as plant superintendent. In 2010, he moved to California where he worked with Serta before joining Pleasant Mattress.
“Michael’s extensive industry experience is an unbelievable asset to us,” said Rion Morgenstern, president and CEO. “His expertise will allow Pleasant Mattress to continue production of high quality mattresses and ensure we are always using the finest components in our product line.”
Based in Fresno, Calif., Pleasant Mattress, formerly Cannon Sleep Products, is an independent, family-owned mattress supplier. The company employs 130 people and has been in business since 1959 when it was founded as the Pleasant Bag Co.
The company is a licensee of the Spring Air brand, and also makes specialty sleep products and futons at its 150,000-square-foot facility in Fresno.
