WithIt, the women’s leadership development network for the home and furnishings industries, donated a portion of its ticket proceeds as well as personal donations to total over $5,100 in support of the Women’s Health Initiative at the City of Hope for cancer and women’s health research.
The money was raised during its Education Breakfast at last month’s High Point Market.
“It was such a great honor to be able to represent our WithIt members and friends to offer such a generous donation to City of Hope,” said Lorri Kelley, president of BDI and the vice president of education for WithIt. “The work they are doing in research to eradicate the types of cancers that specifically target women is critically important, and being able to offer support for this initiative on behalf of everyone at WithIt was just terrific.”
At the breakfast, more than 100 industry leaders, designers and retailers gathered to hear about Portuguese designer Joana Aranha’s inspiring design work which spans the globe. Aranha is the founder of Bunakara, which showed its newly launched collection in the Suites at Market Square.
Caroline Hipple, a founding member of WithIt and president of Norwalk Furniture, was the winner of a raffle that featured a choice of four trips as the grand prize. Hipple opted for a trip to Fiji.
Proceeds from the raffle will support WithIt’s educational programs in 2017.
