NY Based Product Designer Todd Bracher to Create “Das Haus” at Imm Cologne 2017

The traditional highlight of the annual imm cologne show is always the “Das Haus” installation – a special program which invites a young designer or architect to develop a “domestic space” that explores the possibilities of interior design in a completely uninhibited way.

For imm 2017, Cologne has selected Todd Bracher, a Brooklyn based designer and leading name in the American design scene to create the installation. He will be given the opportunity to make a personal statement on contemporary living in a simulation of a residential house combining architecture, interior design and furnishings.

According to Bracher, “The home is an elementary synthesis of needs and functions that is very precisely directed toward supporting the people who live inside it in their daily lives and their growth.”

The holistic project combines architecture, interiors and product design. “We want to question our conception of what makes contemporary living by rethinking the principles that define the home and asking ourselves if they meet the requirement of the world today” Bracher said.

Born in New York, the son of a carpenter, Bracher graduated from the prestigious Pratt Institute. He completed a Masters in design at the Danish School of Design in Copenhagen, served as Professor of Design at L’ESAD in Reims, France and was Creative Director of the Danish luxury brand Georg Jensen before returning home in 2007 to set up his own studio in New York.

Imm cologne is set to run from January 16 – 22, 2017
