Abbyson Living Partners with Foster Care Organization

Case goods and upholstery resource Abbyson Living recently became the main partner with Los Angeles-based A Sense of Home, an organization that assists kids who age out of foster care and makes their home more than just a place to sleep.

Abbyson donated 150 sofas to A Sense of Home—about a year’s supply for the organization—and other pieces of furniture, including chairs, armoires, and tables. One of the sofas and a coffee table were recently featured on the “Steve Harvey Show,” where A Sense of Home was named one of the “Harvey’s Heroes” and received a $10,000 donation from Clarks Shoes.

The organization and its owner were also honored as a CNN Hero earlier this month, a designation that highlights individuals striving to make a difference in their community and making extraordinary humanitarian aid contributions.

“Everything in the homes we create is donated,” said Georgie Smith, founder of A Sense of Home. “We like to create a very inspired environment so the youth can feel as successful as their environment. The elegance and quality of the Abbyson furniture is fantastic. It compliments all of the donated items and adds to the dignity of what we’re trying to do for the youth.”

In the past two years since its founding, A Sense of Home has created 120 homes and placed 180 youth in beds.

“We believe in helping our community, giving back wherever and whenever we can,” said Yavar Rafieha, Abbyson Living’s President. “If Abbyson products can bring someone happiness, we definitely want to be part of changing their lives. We take great pride in partnering with A Sense of Home to make a better life for those who need it.”
