Six Students Receive WithIt Scholarships

Fulfilling its vision to encourage and support the professional development of women in the home furnishings industry, WithIt has awarded six $2,500 student scholarships for the 2016-2017 academic year.

“WithIt is so very proud of these extraordinary young women,” said Karen Fallon, a sales representative for Hickory Chair and Vice President of Scholarship for WithIt. “Their outstanding achievements in leadership, innovation, design and academics have set them on a clear path as future leaders of our industry. We congratulate each of them on their accomplishments.”

This year’s scholarship recipients are: Mallory Barrett, Industrial Design, North Carolina State University; Tasanee Durrett, Architectural Design, University of Arizona; Callan Gaines, Interior Design, Winthrop University; Amanda Helms, Fashion and Textile Design, North Carolina State University; Claire Hider, Fashion and Textile Design, North Carolina State University; and Rachael Hoffman, Interior Design, Meredith College.

In addition to the tuition grant, recipients were invited to attend the 2016 WithIt Professional Conference held in Charleston, S.C. this past June.

WithIt’s 2016 scholarship program was supported by a $20,000 donation in 2015 from the Heritage Home Group’s Charitable Trust. In celebration of its 20th anniversary, WithIt is planning to expand the program to award 20 scholarships to students and female professionals in 2017.

Since 1999, the not-for-profit organization has awarded more than $80,000 in student scholarships.

“We are extremely grateful to our scholarship sponsors,” said Fallon. “Their support allows us to continue our mission, which is: ‘To encourage and develop leadership, mentoring, education and networking opportunities for professional women in the home and furnishings industries.’ Together, we’re encouraging the talent and development of our future industry leaders.”
