Havertys to Donate Portion of Baton Rouge Store’s Sales to Help Flood Victims

Havertys (HVT), the Atlanta-based furniture retailer, will donate a percentage of its Baton Rouge store’s 2016 sales to local charities working to help Louisiana families rebuild and recover from devastating floods.
The company will start contributions immediately with a $10,000 donation to the American Red Cross.
More than 100,000 homes have flooded since the mid-August storms, and recovery has been hampered by additional storms throughout the month. The Louisiana Flood of 2016 put tens of thousands of acres underwater across the state.
“Baton Rouge families continue to struggle, and we want to do what we can to help,” said Clarence Smith, Havertys Chairman, President, and CEO. “We are committed to helping this community get back on its feet.”
While the Baton Rouge Havertys location escaped flood damage, more than half the store’s associates and families face daunting damage and repairs.
“We’re able to turn our recovery focus to the community and our team members, some of whom have lost everything,” said Zack Mattson, store manager for the Havertys location on Airline Highway in Baton Rouge. “We are among the lucky, and we want to support those in Baton Rouge who found themselves affected by these historic floods.”
Havertys has more than 120 stores in 16 states, including its Louisiana locations in Baton Rouge, Alexandria, Monroe and Shreveport.
