Woods, who most recently was President and Chief Merchandising Officer of Virginia-based Haynes Furniture, will begin his new job at the 13-store chain on Sept. 7.
He is replacing Lee Goodman, who announced earlier this year he was leaving the post.
“To say that I’m excited to be joining the Jerome’s family is an understatement,” said Woods. “This is my dream job and the company’s values are very much in line with mine.”
“Jerome’s ‘no-haggle,’ everyday low price approach, in combination with its unmatched, in-stock selection, same day delivery, furniture removal services and augmented reality software are customer-centric elements that others can only hope to emulate.”
Woods brings more than 20 years of progressive operations, merchandising, marketing and P&L leadership for multi-billion dollar "big box" retailers.
At Haynes, Jerome’s officials said Woods “turned the company from years of sales declines to significant top line growth and profitability improvements.”
Prior to that, he was the Executive Vice President of Sales for American Signature Furniture. In that position, he defined a new brand strategy, assortment and in-store experience that transformed the company by differentiating the value proposition in the industry.
Jerome’s said his efforts resulted in double-digit sales increases, margin improvement and significantly higher close rates.
Woods started his career in 1992 with CompUSA in a technical services role and ultimately rose to the role of Executive Vice President and General Merchandising and Marketing in 2003.
“Throughout his entire career, Brian has worked to enhance the customers' shopping experience, has been successful in highly competitive retail markets and has created brand differentiators that customers have embraced,” said Jerry Navarra, Chairman of Jerome’s Furniture. “He is a visionary team leader who has a talent for inspiring staff at all levels to achieve aggressive goals. We’re excited to have him aboard.”
