Bedding Producer, Louisiana Mattress Retailer Join Forces To Help Flood Victims

Families who need bedding in the wake of the catastrophic flooding in Louisiana are receiving donations through a partnership formed by latex bedding producer Talalay Global and its customer, Louisiana-based retailer All-American Mattress, which sells Pure Talalay Bliss beds.

All-American Mattress, owned by Mike Graham, has stores in Gonzales and Zachary, La., both of which escaped flood damage.  The family-owned retail outlets serve customers in the greater Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas.

Graham, who already has donated mattresses from his stores to the local fire department, is now receiving shipments of toppers and pillows from Talalay Global for distribution among individuals and families impacted by the disaster.

Some relief agencies have estimated that more than 110,000 homes are located in the areas affected by the flood, which occurred Aug. 12-22.   As many as 20 Louisiana parishes have been designated as federal disaster areas by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

"We’re very grateful not only that Mike’s stores were unaffected, but also that he can help direct our donations to people and areas where they’re needed most,” said Kim Fisher, President and Chief Operating Officer of Talalay Global.  “In the end, this is about Americans helping Americans.  Along with the many other members of the home furnishings industry that have stepped up in recent weeks, we’re very grateful to be part of the overall relief effort.”
