Lewis, Allied ASID, Assoc. IIDA, CAPS, and founder of 55+ TLC Interior Design, LLC, took both gold and silver for two universal design bathroom remodels completed in Scottsdale and Fountain Hills, Ariz.
“It was a great honor to be recognized for my work in universal design,” Lewis said. “To be awarded both gold and silver in Best Universal Design Kitchen and Bath for two of my bathroom projects is thrilling. It brings home my belief that universal design and aging-in-place design can be as beautiful as they are safe.”
Lewis is passionate about the importance of universal and aging-in-place design and their ability to help people by creating safer home environments. She believes that pairing the science of universal design for longevity and health with aesthetically beautiful design concepts helps make universal and aging-in-place design desirable and relevant.
“People need universal design and aging-in-place design for the very simple and important purpose of living longer, healthier lives,” Lewis said. “If we make those choices as beautiful as they are sensible, people will make more rational decisions about design that will be preventative and will benefit them more in the long-run.”
The Kitchen & Bath Design Awards competition was initiated to recognize kitchen and bath specialists and other professionals for outstanding project design and construction.
A panel of top design professionals judged approximately 300 entries in nine categories for the Kitchen & Bath Design Awards.
