Going for the Gold – Kite, That Is! Ethan Allen Honors Clinton A. Clark with Prestigious Award

Ethan Allen is pleased to announce the recipient of its highest recognition, the Golden Kite Award. Established in 1997, the Golden Kite Award recognizes those who embody the highest standards of excellence from Ethan Allen's network of more than 7,000 associates at its Design Centers and manufacturing and logistics facilities worldwide.

This year, the recipient of this prestigious award was Ethan Allen board member Clinton A. Clark. Mr. Clark was surprised with the award during the Company's International Retail Conference in Danbury in early August. He was joined by his wife, Judy, in receiving the award last week.

"Running our business is like flying a kite. If you focus on doing what is right-represented by the kite itself-success-or the tail-follows. If all you focus on is the tail, then the kite never flies as high as it can," said Farooq Kathwari, Chairman, President and CEO of Ethan Allen.

"The theme of our conference this year was the Journey of American Style, and so it was only fitting that we took the time to honor someone whose knowledge, wisdom, and humility have helped our "kite" to continue to fly high."

Clark became a director of the Company on June 30, 1989. He currently serves as the Audit Committee Chairperson. He and a partner are sole members of Clark Quality Construction, LLC, a residential development company. Prior to founding Clark Quality Construction, he was Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Long John Silver's Restaurants, Inc. from 1990 through September 1993. Prior to that, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of The Children's Place, a retail children's apparel chain he founded in 1968.

After 27 years serving on the board, Clark will be retiring prior to the 2016 Annual Meeting of Stockholders. "Clint has been a friend, supporter, and invaluable advisor through Ethan Allen's many changes, challenges, and reinventions," added Kathwari.
