Ashley HomeStore Donates Over 450 Mattresses

A new bed – and for many in the community – a bed of their own, can make all the difference to sleeping well and overall better health.

Last week, Ashley HomeStore donated and delivered 451 mattresses to three non-profit organizations that serve children in foster care and families transitioning from homelessness.

As a result of a recent “Buy One, Get One” Ashley HomeStore mattress promotion, those in need can now get a better night’s sleep. For every mattress purchased between February 23 and March 7, Ashley HomeStore donated a bed to The Children’s Home, Metropolitan Ministries, or Devereux non-profit organizations.

“The Children’s Home is thrilled to partner with Ashley HomeStore in the donation of 125 mattresses for needy children in the Tampa Bay area,” said Irene Rickus, President and CEO of The Children’s Home. “We see this partnership having an immediate impact on the well-being of boys and girls in our Residential, Foster Care and Kinship Programs. Statistics show that quality sleep for children means better performance in school and an increase in the overall health of a child. We are very grateful to Ashley HomeStore and their commitment to our community.”

Ashley HomeStore donated a total of 291 mattresses to benefit both the Tampa and Orlando area communities, while donating 160 mattresses to the Atlanta area Devereux.

“We are grateful to receive such a generous donation from Ashley HomeStore,” said Tim Marks, Metropolitan Ministries President and CEO. “Part of our mission at Metropolitan Ministries is to treat those who are homeless with dignity. These mattresses will provide that little bit of extra dignity and comfort when those who live in our temporary housing need a comfortable place to rest.”

Gwendolyn B. Skinner, Executive Director of Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Georgia is also grateful for the generosity, stating, “Devereux Georgia is delighted about the new partnership with Ashley HomeStore and is extremely grateful for the donation of the mattresses to our center near Atlanta.”

There are currently 34 Ashley HomeStores located in Florida, 19 in Georgia, and 627 worldwide.
