Restoration Hardware West Palm Beach Opening Moved to 2016 4th Quarter

Ken Himmel, a top executive with New York-based Related Cos., the store’s developer, said the gallery’s opening has been moved to the fourth quarter of 2016 from the third quarter.

Himmel said the store has made upgrades and design changes that have pushed the opening date to the end of the year.

The four-story showroom will feature outdoor courtyards, a fountain and a rooftop park. According to Himmel, the 50,000-square-foot Restoration Hardware gallery will be “a Mizner-inspired mansion.” The goal: to create a landmark for cities where the galleries are located.

Based in Corte Madera, Calif., Restoration Hardware sells furniture, lighting, textiles, bathware, baby and child products. It started as a store for historical knobs and fixtures, then broadened into furniture. More recently it transformed into a “curator” of luxury home furnishings, according to the company’s website, building grand galleries, eschewing traditional mall stores.

Restoration Hardware has opened RH galleries in Atlanta and West Hollywood, Calif. Galleries also have been built in historic properties like the Museum of Natural History in Boston and the Historic Post Office in Greenwich, Conn.
