Furniture Retailer RoomPlace Buys Levitz Building

Seventeen years after Levitz Furniture shuttered a large warehouse in Indianapolis, IN., sofas and dining tables are about to bustle through the building’s corridors once again.

Furniture retailer RoomPlace has acquired the 170,000-square-foot building and plans to use it as a warehouse and showroom. It will also be the headquarters of RoomPlace's rent-to-own division, EasyHome.

RoomPlace currently operates 24 stores and offers a variety of furniture, from traditional to modern. The retailer plans to hire 70 people within a year and more than 120 within two years, CEO Paul Adams said. The company plans to invest more than $7 million to renovate the building.
