Cardi Brothers open door on new East Wareham store

Cardi’s Furniture & Mattresses Store chain opened a new store at the Cranberry Plaza in East Wareham, Ma. on Friday May 6.

Eager early-bird shoppers were welcomed not just by a store manager, but by two of the three company owners. Ron Cardi and Pete Cardi actually opened the front doors for the first time and remained there for several minutes, greeting every shopper and thanking them for their patronage. This is the kind of personalized service for which the company is renowned.

“We were scheduled to open at 11 (a.m.), but there were already people outside, so we decided to open a little early,” Pete Cardi said. “We’re anxious to get going.”

When customers stepped inside, they witnessed a dizzying and glittering array of furniture, mattresses and accessories, neatly assembled and showcased throughout the 80,000-square foot facility. While sales associates roamed the sprawling showrooms, Ron and Pete were helping customers locate products and accepting gratitude for opening the store.

Ron Cardi said the decision to commence business in Wareham on Friday was made quickly. Signs on the building’s exterior indicated the store would not open until May 14. “Once we got our occupancy permit, we decided to open the doors as soon as we could. We’ll still have our grand opening on May 14, but it will be just about the same thing we’re doing today. We’re not big into parties; we want to have a short celebration and then do business.”

Pete Cardi said Wareham has welcomed the store with open arms. “This town has been wonderful to us and town officials have been fabulous,” he said. “The Building Department has been very cooperative, efficient and professional in its dealings with us.”

According to Ron Cardi, the Wareham store is the chain’s 19th, encompassing communities in southern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Cardi’s operates “big-box” stores in West Warwick, R.I., Attleboro and Swansea, where its headquarters is located.

The Cardi brothers said Friday they have high hopes for the Wareham store, which will target customers from a broad geographical enclave.
