The Bienenstock Furniture Library Celebrates The Old North State

The Bienenstock Furniture Library in High Point is hosting two events as part of the week-long "Celebrate The Old North State" from May 9 to 15.

The library will host Johanna Metzgar Brown, director of collections and curator of Moravian decorative arts at Old Salem Museum and Gardens, on May 11 at 2 p.m. for a presentation on the history of Moravian decorative arts in North Carolina between 1753 and 1850.

The library will host Randell Jones, award-winning author and storyteller, on May 13. He is the author of several books about the frontier and Revolutionary War era in North Carolina including In the Footsteps of Daniel Boone and Before They Were Heroes at Kings Mountain. He will share stories from Scoundrels, Rogues and Heroes in the Old North State to celebrate the recent audio recording of that book by the N.C. Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.

Each of these events is part of a larger gala celebrating the art, architecture, garden tours, concerts, historic preservation symposiums, and access to private destinations. Visit http://theoldnorthstatehp.com for complete details of the week-long celebration.
