Gold Bond Debuts Roll-Packed Innerspring Mattress

Independent mattress manufacturer Gold Bond has incorporated the Leggett & Platt Quantum Edge and Bolsa Spring unit in two of its innerspring lines at High Point Market.

The Westminster and Buckingham collections will feature the Quantum Edge steel perimeter that forms a base around the Bolsa unit, eliminating the need for foam encasement and creating a consistent sleep surface from edge to edge. The Quantum Edge has the ability to be compressed, folded and rolled, which allows product to be shipped via UPS without a large-package up charge.

“Innersprings combine the best of all bedding components and the growing interest from millennials in the online space inspired us to develop a product our customers can compress, fold and roll pack,” said Robert Naboicheck, president of Gold Bond. “There are plenty of specialty products rolled and packed, but we are excited to be the first company in the industry to develop a line featuring the Quantum Edge and Bolsa Spring unit.”

The Bolsa coils form the interior of bed and provide an even surface that absorbs partner movement and prevents sleepers from rolling together. The pre-compressed coils create a firm surface that makes the mattress more responsive to body movements.

“During compression and roll-packing, foam encasement tubs tend to separate from the innerspring unit, creating a number of problems that impact feel, quality and aesthetics,” said Jason Jewett, vice president of product for the Leggett & Platt Bedding Group. “Quantum Edge not only offers superior performance after being roll-packed, it eliminates the need for foam encasement tubs, freeing up time at manufacturing glue stations.”
