Tim Stumm has joined Dallas Market Center as vice president of lighting and design industry leasing.
Stumm will be responsible for leasing and managing the 9th and 11th floors of the World Trade Center, dedicated to residential design, as well leasing responsibilities for the recently announced Light + Design showroom on the 10th floor. He will also oversee business development opportunities for the lighting industry including home automation and smart lighting.
Stumm joins Dallas Market Center following a more than 25-year career including leadership roles with companies in commercial building management; residential development operations and marketing; and retail and wholesale lighting operations, buying and marketing. His most recent positions were showroom manager for Expressions Home Gallery preceded by vice president of marketing and showroom operations for Meletio Lighting & Electrical Supply.
“Tim comes to us highly recommended by several lighting industry leaders familiar with his experience and capabilities,” said Cindy Morris, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center. “His industry knowledge, relationships and his passion for the business are a unique set of abilities to serve the luxury market and the interior design community. His participation is part of a long-range plan to not merely sustain our market position but push forward into new business channels serving a wider customer base.”
As the synergies between lighting and technology continue to grow, there is an opportunity for Dallas Market Center to provide a permanent showcase of additional resources targeting the connected home. This addition of smart lighting and home automation products and solutions for the thousands of lighting buyers attending Lightovation, Dallas Market Center’s twice annual lighting show, will enhance Dallas’ reputation as the headquarters of lighting for the Americas.
One of Stumm’s initial projects is to oversee leasing the balance of Light + Design, a lighting showroom concept to serve the interior design community: the 25,000-square-foot space, opening in summer 2016, will feature a curated collection of luxury lighting manufacturers in custom spaces managed by Dallas Market Center. More than 70 percent of available space in Light + Design, located on the 10th floor of the World Trade Center, has already been reserved by top manufacturers including Hinkley Lighting, John Richard, Kuzco, Holtkoetter, and others.
Inside Light + Design, a professionally trained and qualified lighting sales manager will manage the space and assist with product education, and directing sales orders and leads to complement existing channels including sales representatives and manufacturers. In addition to securing commitments from a list of interested companies that complement the companies already in place, Stumm will also recruit an experienced industry specialist to administer the daily operations of the showroom, and he will provide direction for event activities planned for Light + Design including CEU’s, training sessions and interior design events.
“Serving the design community, developing new business channels for our lighting manufacturers as well helping create new markets for a wider set of buyers such as smart lighting and home automation are passionate pursuits that we boldly embrace,” Morris said. “Staying on the forefront of business opportunities and new technologies will help advance our mission of maximizing year-round buying and selling by the world’s best manufacturers and sales representatives.”
