FastFact: Seniors Prefer to Age at Home

On average, 10,000 people turn 65 years old every day. By 2030, one in five people will be 65 and over.

When AARP asked if people would prefer to stay in their homes even if they needed daily assistance or ongoing care during retirement, 82 percent said yes. Nine percent said they would prefer to move to a retirement or assisted-living community and 4 percent would like to move to a relative’s home.
