Surya Kicks off 40th Anniversary Celebration in High Point

Home accessories supplier Surya is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

To commemorate the milestone, the company will hold a series of events, contests and promotions throughout the year. Anniversary festivities will begin with a celebration at High Point Market in Surya’s 4100 Showplace showroom Sunday, April 17 at 6 p.m.

Founded in 1976 by Surya Tiwari, Surya began as a small maker of hand-knotted rugs with a mission to preserve the artisan craft and create a better life for families in rural India. Surya’s son, Satya Tiwari, was appointed president in 2006 and where he built the company’s strategy to serve independent furniture dealers and interior designers by providing them with an entry into the emerging home accessories category. In the past several years, the company has extended its reach to additional channels, including the contract and outdoor segments.

Surya has added new product categories each year since 2010 with its expansion into pillows, throws, wall décor, accent furniture, lighting, decorative accents and bedding. Today, the company offers more than 50,000 coordinating accessories across a variety of lifestyles and price points.

“We want to express our deepest gratitude to all of our valued customers who have put their trust in Surya during the past 40 years and continue to inspire us to greater heights,” Satya Tiwari said. “Our customers are the reason we strive to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the home decor market, and we never take them for granted. We know we must earn their business each and every day through hard work, determination and a passionate commitment to help them succeed – that’s what drives us. We can’t wait to see what the next 40 years will bring.”

With more than 15,000 customers, Surya continues to achieve significant double-digit digit revenue growth, posting $100 million in sales last year, and earning a spot on Inc. Magazine’s list of America’s fastest growing privately held companies for the fifth consecutive year. In May, the company will move into a new, one-million-square-foot headquarters and distribution center in Cartersville, Ga., that will be home to more than 400 employees.
