City Furniture Donates to Habitat for Humanity

Celebrating the reopening of two redesigned South Florida showrooms City Furniture has donated $5,000 to local Habitat for Humanity affiliates.

At a reception marking the 58,659-square-foot City Furniture showroom’s opening in Pembroke Pines, Fla., Keith Koenig, City president, presented Habitat for Humanity of Broward with a $2,500 check to benefit the organization’s ReStore home improvement thrift store in Fort Lauderdale.

The retailer also recently opened its redesigned Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Wellington, Fla., with a $2,500 donation to Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County. City Furniture is the southeast and southwest Florida licensee for Ashley Furniture HomeStores.

“Our team loves helping families create homes where they can thrive and fulfill their dreams,” Koenig said. “That goal drives the success of our stores, and through Habitat for Humanity, we can help hardworking families in need create the homes they envision.”

Habitat for Humanity of Broward’s relationship with City Furniture has been a mainstay for 15 years. The Broward-based company’s ongoing donations of furniture products to Habitat for Humanity of Broward’s ReStore make it one of the organization’s largest corporate supporters. City Furniture’s people worked on a Habitat home named for City Furniture, and the retailer sponsored a home in the charity’s 2015 Women’s Build initiative.

The retailer completed a total interior renovation and exterior upgrade to its Pembroke Pines showroom enhancing the store to showcase the next-generation interior design found in City Furniture’s newest locations throughout Florida. Dramatic energy efficient lighting, expanses of glass, new flooring, wall covering and sleek fixtures create a bright, up-tempo backdrop for the store’s contemporary, Florida casual and traditional furnishings.

In Wellington, City Furniture relocated its established Ashley Furniture HomeStore showroom to adjacent space within the Mall at Wellington Green to facilitate the mall’s addition of a movie theater. With upscale finishes and fixtures, the 25,000-square-foot showroom is the first in South Florida built to Ashley Furniture HomeStore’s new design standards and boutique feel, with contemporary, vintage casual, urbanology and other lifestyle display areas.

The showroom redesign projects are the latest steps in enhancing and upgrading the retailer’s network of 15 City Furniture and 11 Ashley Furniture HomeStore locations.
