2016 by in Economic News, Industry
Today’s aging population is looking more and more toward residing in their current homes as they get older.
The Aging in Place trend is real as 10,000 people turn 65 years old daily. By 2030, one in five people will be 65-plus years old.
The trend has spawned remodeling that includes construction to modify and retrofit homes for safety and convenience as well as interior design geared to the aging—including furniture, flooring and lighting.
Senior homeowners remain key to the U.S. economy with Baby Boomers now entering the retirement years. In the last 10 years, the population 65 and over group has grown by nearly 30 percent and many have adopted the Aging in Place philosophy.
