Alexander Julian to Speak at ASFD Spring Dinner

The only difference is fewer sizes” is the title of Julian’s presentation set during the High Point Market. The event will take place Monday, April 18 at the String and Splinter. A student meet and greet begins at 5:30 p.m. with a reception following at 6 and dinner at 7.
The evening will also feature the presentation of the Furniture and Interior Design winners of the 2016 Beinenstock Furniture Library Student Design Competition and the 2016 ASFD Merit Scholarship winner. The event sponsored by Phillips Collection.
"We work in such a dynamic, multi-faceted industry and feel it is the obligation of all sectors to show their support where ever possible,” said Jason Phillips, Phillips Collection vice president. “Of specific significance to us is the American Society of Furniture Designers. We are quite active in the organization and feel it is our obligation to support its efforts in mentoring, educating and inspiring the present and future designers in our industry.”
Julian has won a number of design awards, including five Coty awards, three Cutty Sark awards, the Council of Fashion Designers of America award, the International Color Marketing award, the Pantone award, and the Worldesign award. His textile design is part of the Smithsonian National Design Museum's permanent collection. In addition, Julian won a Pinnacle award for furniture design, and he has been voted to the International Best Dressed list nine times.
Julian lives in Fairfield County, Conn., and Chapel Hill, N.C., with his wife Meagan Julian.
