Fine Furniture Design has expanded its hospitality division with the installation of its Biltmore collection at the Inn on Biltmore Estate.
The company helped mark the hotel’s 15th anniversary by furnishings 181 of the inn’s 210 guest rooms with furniture from the Biltmore collection.
“It is only fitting that these timeless pieces introduced over the past three years will now be part of the guest experience when enjoying the authentic elegance and impeccable attention to detail associated with a stay at the Inn on Biltmore Estate,” said Eric Graham, president of Fine Furniture Design.
The focal point of the Inn's newly furnished guest rooms is the signature panel bed in the Antler Hill finish, which was inspired by a bed with a wrapped footboard on display in the Asheville, N.C., Biltmore House. The king headboards feature an inlaid “GWV,” the monogram of George W. Vanderbilt, who completed building Biltmore House in 1895 to be his family home.
“It’s a real pleasure to refresh the Inn’s rooms with furniture that represents the design and quality found in Biltmore House,” said Charles Thompson, Inn general manager. “Working with our Biltmore licensed products team and our partner, Fine Furniture Design, has been an exciting process that will enable us to further extend the hospitality that George and Edith Vanderbilt extended to each and every one of their guests.”
To create the Biltmore Collection, designers from Fine Furniture Design spent days visiting the estate to take extensive notes and photographs, and to glean details from Biltmore’s curators. Product development resulted after careful study of the estate, from Biltmore’s grounds and gardens to architectural elements, to individual pieces of art, antiques, and furnishings in Biltmore House that Vanderbilt collected from around the world.
“When you’re fortunate enough to have Biltmore as your source of inspiration, it’s an endless array of antiques, artwork and architectural details that give rise to the next piece in the collection,” said Carl Bundy, vice president of product development and merchandising at Fine Furniture Design.
Additional pieces from the Biltmore Collection by Fine Furniture Design that have been installed in the Inn’s guest rooms include a dresser, night stand, mirrors, chairside table, desk and chair. New sofas and chairs are also featured in the lobby.
In addition to the exclusive monogram inlay on the headboards, several other pieces include special details for hospitality use, including additional sizes for beds, mirrors, and night tables as well as unique construction on the desk that provides dual side use. All night stands, dressers and desks feature glass tops and case good pieces feature a protective finish to meet hospitality standards.
