Thomasville, Baratta Team for Modern Cottage Collection

Thomasville Furniture and interior designer Anthony Baratta are teaming up for a home furnishings collection inspired by items created for the designer’s clients.

“Anthony Baratta’s design aesthetic brings a fresh perspective to Thomasville,” said Pierre de Villemejane, president and CEO of Heritage Home Group, parent company of Thomasville. “The new collection combines modern styling and timeless silhouettes which provides our dealers a unique and inspired product offering.”

The Anthony Baratta collection, set to debut at the April High Point Market, includes 50 pieces of bedroom, dining, occasional and upholstery, best described as a mix of relaxed resort and modern cottage, with hints of nautical. Upholstery designs are shapely and detailed. Sofas range from relaxed, casual camelbacks to curved-front crescents and loose-cushion shelter frames, and chairs feature rounded backs and exaggerated wings. Tailoring details include decorative tapes, button-tufting and nail head trims.

Baratta‘s wood products provide a bold counterpoint to the shapely upholstery. Bold, beveled face profiles in solid oak and quartered oak veneers feature a warm taupe finish. White is a signature accent throughout the collection. Cerusing, a wire brushed technique, is a signature on all case pieces with accents of white paint and white leather wrapped doors, drawers and tops.

Baratta started his design career 30 years ago upon graduation from Fordham University with a degree in art history.

Combining his talents with the late William Diamond, their firm, Diamond Baratta Design, was known for its colorful, luxurious interiors. The duo became media sensations capturing more than 40 magazine covers and countless editorial placements in luxury shelter and lifestyle publications. Baratta’s work has been featured worldwide in such magazines as Architectural Digest, World of Interiors, House Beautiful, House & Garden, Cottages & Gardens and Elle Décor, and Veranda. His own homes have appeared in the New York Times Magazine on three separate occasions; and in recent years world class international magazines have honored him with awards and accolades for his work. Baratta is known for his signature East Coast-Chic style.

“The opportunity to work with such a distinguished and well-known brand came at the perfect time in my career,” Baratta said. “My mission has always been to design pieces for each client that fits their personal style. This collection will make my signature looks available to consumers that I may not have the opportunity to work with as individuals.”
