FastFact: Furniture Sales Climb 4.9% in 4Q

Furniture and bedding sales climbed 4.9 percent to $23.62 billion in the fourth quarter of 2015 compared to the same quarter the prior year.
Industry sales climbed 0.9 percent over third quarter sales in 2015.
Excluding bedding, furniture sales were up 5.2 percent in the fourth quarter over the fourth quarter of 2014. Holiday sales pushed fourth quarter sales up 4.8 percent over third quarter sales.
Mattress sales for the quarter were up 1.9 percent over the fourth quarter of last year. Traditionally, the fourth quarter is the category’s least productive period, and the most recent year followed suit. Mattress sales plummeted 19.3 percent from the third quarter of 2015.
