Gwyneth Paltrow to Keynote Antique, Garden Show

Academy Award winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow will deliver the keynote address at the upcoming Antiques and Garden Show of Nashville.

Paltrow, also chief creative officer of Goop, a lifestyle website that has an e-commerce component, will take the stage with interior designer Windsor Smith. Paltrow and Smith, close friends, will share insights on their personal design and lifestyle aesthetics. Paltrow wrote the forward for Smith’s latest book–“Windsor Smith Homefront: Design for Modern Living.”

The three-day event, set for Feb. 12-14, will feature more than 150 fine antiques and horticultural vendors. The show draws crowds of up to 12,000 to shop, view the garden spaces and attend lectures.

“We’re thrilled to host Ms. Paltrow as our special guest, and can’t wait to hear her exclusive insights,” said event co-chair Amy Liz Riddick.

The 2016 Antiques and Garden Show of Nashville will also include design lectures and panels with Honorary Chair Bunny Williams, Brian McCarthy, David Kleinberg, Mark Sikes, Suzanne Rheinstein and Brian Murphy. In addition, garden lectures will be offered by French landscape designer Louis Benech and British floral designer Shane Connolly.

Benech most recently redesigned the Water Theater Grove at Versailles, the first new commission at the palace since the era of Louis XVI. Connolly, dubbed “The Flower Maestro” by Flower Magazine, has brought his eye to the floral world for over 25 years – including the wedding of His Royal Highness Prince William and Catherine Middleton in April 2011.

“Louis Benech and Shane Connolly epitomize what makes the Antiques and Garden Show of Nashville a one-of-a-kind event,” said co-chair Elizabeth Coble.

These designers and authors will discuss current and traditional design elements, and how to best incorporate antiques into the modern lifestyle. Further discussion and book signings will follow each event.

Clinton Smith, editor in chief of Veranda and author of “The Romance of Flowers,” and David DiBenedetto, senior vice president and editor in chief of Garden & Gun and the editor of “The Southerner's Cookbook: Recipes, Wisdom, and Stories,” will also host book signings.

Tickets and a full schedule of the 2016 Antiques and Garden Show are available online.
