Smith Leonard: Furniture Orders Up 1%

Furniture orders jumped 1 percent in October from the same month last year, according to Smith Leonard’s Furniture Insights monthly report.
October’s increase followed on the heels of a flat September, which was the first time in 18 months that orders had not increased.
Year-to-date, new orders are 4 percent ahead of the same period for 2014. Shipments were up 7 percent over October 2014 and remain ahead year-to-date. Backlogs for the month climbed 2 percent from September and were about even with backlogs from October 2014.
