Hall of Fame Calls for Nominations

The American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation is now accepting nominations for candidates to be inducted into the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame later this year.

Foundation members are eligible to nominate and to second a nomination.

“One of the benefits of being a member of the Hall of Fame is that it allows you to nominate candidates that you believe are deserving of this most prestigious honor,” said Michael Amini, president of the foundation. “Home furnishings is an enormous worldwide enterprise, so we rely on our members – and we encourage them – to bring to our attention exceptional leaders from across all segments of our industry and from across the globe.

“It is part of our mission to recognize those individuals who exemplify enduring excellence, superior accomplishments, innovation and creativity, and philanthropic generosity of their time, talents and resources,” he said.

Amini also emphasized that the foundation has expanded its vision to encompass all sectors of the industry, including retail, case goods and upholstery, casual furnishings; as well as the decorative elements of rugs, lighting, accessories and soft goods. Candidates may include manufacturers, retailers, sales representatives, designers, suppliers, association management, and others who have made notable contributions.

To qualify for consideration, the individual must conduct business in the United States, have served in the industry for at least 15 years, and have created a legacy as a positive influence and champion of the industry. For posthumous nominations, the individual must have been deceased for at least 12 months prior to the date of the nomination.

Members may submit nominations by Feb. 1. Nomination forms and lists of current members, previous nominees and inductees are available on the foundation website. Members may also obtain printed copies of the documents by calling (336) 882-5900.

To make a nomination, a re-nomination or a posthumous nomination, foundation members are required to complete the nomination form found online. A print or a 300 dpi digital photo of the candidate must be enclosed. All nominations must be seconded, in writing, by another foundation member.

The completed nomination package must be postmarked no later than Feb. 1, and sent to American Furniture Hall of Fame Foundation, 202 Neal Place, High Point, N.C.,  27262.

New inductees will be honored at the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Banquet Oct. 23 during the Fall High Point Market
