2015 by in Industry, Special Events
The Caruso Audio cabinet from Miniforms was the winner of the second annual Edward Haimsohn Design Award at the Contemporary Design Group’s annual conference in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Designed by Paolo Cappello, the cabinet features a trumpet style speaker juxtaposed against a clean-lined design. The Caruso is equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 connection for high performance sound.
The award was accepted by Leif Petersen, owner of Leif Petersen Inc, representing Miniforms.
First runner up was the New York seating by Sami Teini for Luonto, and the second runner up was Dew Convertible desk by Morten Georgsen for Eurostyle. A judging panel of CDG retail members evaluated nominees on originality, creativity, consumer appeal, use of materials, functionality, and manufacturing execution.
The award is named in honor of CDG's co-founder, Edward Haimsohn, who is well known for his strong eye for design and attention to quality. As co-founder of the Contemporary Design Group, Haimsohn had the foresight to help create an organization of like-minded retailers who appreciated design and who saw home furnishings as much more than just a product to sell.
Haimsohn is retired and lives in San Diego.
CDG is currently accepting designs for consideration in 2016. More information about entry criteria is available online.
