Cymax Adds 3 to Technology, Marketing Teams

Home furnishings e-tailer Cymax has named three executives to its marketing and technology teams.

Two new vice presidents and a senior director will strengthen the retailer’s position as a leader in online furniture sales and play key roles in its evolution from a data driven e-tailer to an integrated e-commerce technology company.

Rizwan Somji joins Cymax as vice president of technology, bringing 15 years of experience leading high performance, agile and globally-diverse technology teams. As the former co-founder and vice president of engineering for ResponseTek Networks, Somji brings a track record of building highly scalable, hosted SaaS applications to Cymax's growing development team.

On the retail side, Grant McTaggart joins Cymax as vice president of merchandising and marketing. McTaggart brings more than 25 years of experience, most recently as a vice president with Best Buy Canada. With a knowledge of merchandising and consumer behavior, McTaggart will expand and diversify the company's furniture e-tail business with an increased focus on customer experience.

Cymax is also adding to its data team with the appointment of Nathaniel Payne as senior director of data analytics. Payne was most recently with Cardinal Path where he led data science, engineering and product development. Payne's 15 years of experience in cloud computing and analytics will deliver new insights from Cymax's data to advance its technology and growth.

"The calibre of talent we've attracted to Cymax's growing leadership team is a strong testament to the market opportunity in front of us," said Arash Fasihi, founder and CEO of Cymax. "The proven track record of these three outstanding individuals will help lead our teams through a time of rapid expansion and scale, and be vital to Cymax in the coming months."

Cymax has seen 71 percent growth over the past five years. In October, the multi-brand retailer announced it would utilize its $30 million Series A funding to build out an end-to-end e-commerce solution for furniture retailers and develop new technology for shipping and logistics.
